…In Fall

I always have loved the song – thanks to Ferris Bueller. And I have always wanted to see Central Park in person. Lucky me, I got to see it in Fall with one of my favorite people, my sister.

Wishing my beautiful sister a very special birthday today. She has talent, beyond belief, of capturing beauty at a single moment in time, picture by picture. Happy Birthday – I love you!

I can’t get enough of the blog I ♥ Faces. This week’s contest is a picture showing excitement. My entry is my daughter, again. She has always exuded excitement in everything she does. This shot was taken years ago when her brother was dragging her around in a sled.

Here are a few of my favorite things. I could have done 100 more pictures, but tried to keep it short.
Most of all, I love my family – my husband and my adorable kids and our large extended family. But I love my dogs, pumpkins and the season Fall, watching my kids play in our field, sunflowers, wine, drag races, waterskiing and spending time on our lake with our boat, storm watching, deer, tulips and anything orange, and my adorable nephew!
Have I mentioned photography??

Head on over to I ♥ Faces to check our more favorites of other bloggers.

This is my word to describe me this weekend. Not only did I decorate for Halloween, I attended my son’s little league football game, I took the kids down to Mainstreet to paint pottery and I painted a Halloween bowl, we had the neighborhood kids over today, I organized the kitchen cupboards, and I canned. Yes, I canned. I made blueberry jelly, jalapeno jelly, pickled jalapenos and jars of tomato sauce. I feel quite accomplished. Tired, but accomplished. 15 years ago I never could have imagined myself doing these types of things
Here are the fruits of my labor-

I am a photographer. This is why I drag my camera around with me everywhere, especially during the fall, so I can get pictures of the magnificent mule deer that call my area home. I am so lucky to see these creatures daily and watch them grow and create families. Living where I do it is hard not to appreciate these animals, as long as you aren’t a farmer
I am a hunter’s wife. I have grown to appreciate hunting and wildlife conservation. This is why I whole-heartedly support the Division of Wildlife and took my hunter safety course last fall. Starting today, I am officially a “hunter”. Seeing the deer in my area thrive and expand in numbers prompted me to get a deer tag this year. I am not comfortable with the thought of rifles discharging in my neighborhood. There are homes, and families, and children and pets everywhere. This is why I practice and drew an archery tag. I have been practicing archery, and I have to admit, I am pretty good! Ask me how good I am after I try to hunt a deer
I can imagine that I will be quite nervous and probably miss!
Here is a picture of one of our deer. He is gorgeous. I haven’t seen him since I took this picture, but if it is in the cards, maybe we’ll run into one another in the next few months.

I ♥ Faces is a blog I just discovered that inspires me! They have weekly photo challenges. This week’s challenge is to offer a photo with the color Blue as the main portion. It took me a bit to find the perfect picture, but I chose this one of Kaylie. Not only does it make me laugh every time I see it, the story that accompanies this toy gun will never be forgotten!
The gun was a gift from Uncle Bob and Aunt Jennie to Kaylie’s brother, Ashton. We were on a family camping/reunion trip. I traveled from Denver to St Louis via plane, then drove the remaining 3 hours to our destination. Just me and my 2 kids. What fun! When we drove back to St Louis to board our return plane home, ME, silly Mommy, simply forgot that this toy gun was in my son’s backpack. Lo and behold, as soon as the backpack passed through the X-ray machine at security, then entire place came to a standstill. It was only then that I remembered the gun was there. Now, this is not a little plastic gun. It was an awesome metal replica revolver from Cabelas. Ashton starting to cry. Kaylie started to cry. The St Louis police department was called over and I was questioned, as my 2 children literally BAWLED. Fortunately they realized it was an honest mistake, a toy my child was trying to take home from a vacation. They confiscated the gun and let us go. The moral of the story- check your childrens’ carry on baggage for toys that may not pass security!!!

Check out I ♥ Faces this week. The guest judge is Sheye Rosemeyer, one of my favorite blog authors!
